Forage Legumes Group The BGS Forage Legumes Group was reborn out of the Quality Forage for Ruminants Conference held at the Royal Agricultural College in March of 1997. It is a broad-based organisation with members from the academic, research, commercial, and farming sectors. The group uses farm visits, meetings and in house publications to inform its members of best management practices, novel crops, and issues related to the production of forage legumes. Through its membership fee (£20 annually) the Group helps to fund several research projects, and pays for the cost of its publications. The Pasture Ecology Group (originally the Detailed Sward Measurement Group) was set up in 1977. Over the course of time its remit has extended to embrace most aspects of pasture-based research. These now include interests in plant animal interactions and in the morphological and physiological determinants of successful pasture species and pasture species associations in different environments. http://www.iger.bbsrc.ac.uk/PastureEcol/pastecol-bkgrnd.html Society Contact: Mr Mike Fothergill The Institute of Grassland & Environmental Research Plas Gogerddan Aberystwyth SY23 3EB Phone: +44 (0)1970 828357 michael.fothergill@bbsrc.ac.uk |
