Join AHDB Beef & Lamb and Precision Grazing Ltd for this FIG’s Project Open Day meeting focusing on the TechnoGrazing system.  The event will focus on the findings from ongoing work based around this novel method of grazing and also feature advice from those already using the system with both beef and sheep.

The event will begin on one of the trial farms where the design, management and performance of the cattle systems will be discussed before moving to the site of the sheep system which is currently being managed as a store lamb finishing operation.

Rotational or Cell grazing systems have been proven to increase annual grass production enabling greater stocking rates. This subsequently improves overall productivity on farm and leads to increased gross margin/ha. TechnoGrazing is a cell based, rotational grazing system developed in New Zealand 30 years ago. This innovative and efficient method of grazing uses permanent and flexible electric fences to construct lanes and cells, these are designed to provide easily adjustable rotation lengths whilst ensuring that animal shifts are very time efficient.

There will be discussions on the importance of grassland management and utilisation plus the importance of soil health.  There will be farm walk at both farms.
