Catchment Sensitive Farming, in conjunction with Essex and Suffolk Water and the River Waveney Catchment partnership offer two events in eastern England:

Successful Maize & Grassland Management

These practical events will cover the key factors involved in getting the most from your maize (AD & forage) / grassland crops whilst minimising environmental issues such as compaction, soil erosion and runoff. 
Presentations inside will be followed by practical a demonstration outside so bring wellies & a coat.

  • Maize variety selection appropriate to your site & to achieve your target harvest date
  • Cultivations & consideration of drilling dates to give your maize the best start
  • Crop nutrient planning for grass & maize including the RB209 update – what to apply & when
  • The importance of good soil structure & management to optimise grass / maize yields
  • Methods to remediate poor soil structure in grassland & arable land – what to do, when & how
