Kingston Maurward College on the 6th March, with Tom Bell of Douglas Green Consulting discussing LEAN managements and effective ways to simplify business.

Tom Bell works as a Dairy Farm Management Consultant for Douglas Green Consulting based in Bridgwater, Somerset, providing consultancy across the South West of England.  He joined the team in July 2015 after 6 years as a Senior Technical Specialist at Kingshay providing advice the farmer members and one2one consultancy. He has a practical background  and is running a mixed farming business alongside his full time position allows him to put theory into practice. 

Tom became a Dairy Lean Management Consultant in 2014 as part of the AHDB pilot study, involving 6 dairy consultants from across the country and 6 associated farm businesses.  Lean management is an approach to running an organization that supports the concept of continuous improvement, a long-term approach to work that systematically seeks to achieve small, incremental changes in processes in order to improve efficiency and quality.  He will be discussing his views and experiences of the concept on the concept and how to implement it into farming systems. 


Tom specialises in:


•         Business consultancy. Business reviews, options budgets& annual budgets

•         Ruminant nutrition: Ration formulation for dairy cows& feed budgeting

•         Cow housing reviews building plans, improve existing buildings for cow health & welfare.

•         Grassland management, with a particular interest in milk from forage.
