Making the Cut - Silage day 2013

Making the Cut - Silage day 2013

British Grassland Society (BGS) and the Silage Advisory Centre (SilAC) will be visiting Stuart and Andrew Yarwood on Thursday 18th April at Lower Medhurst Farm, Cheshire to bring you the latest on all things for making good quality silage this year. This date is to be confirmed over the coming days. NOTE: Date moved from Tuesday 12th March 2013.

Every year the silage season comes around and more and more farms are looking for new ways to increase profitability and production. In 2012, SilAC set out to research current on-farm practices to understand just that, and visited farms across the UK to see where we can still improve and how to do it. To continue this, BGS and SilAC invite you to come and discover what they found, hearing from our speakers and hands on practical session on all things silage.

BGS and SilAC have teamed up with experts in grassland management and silage production to understand how to make silage. The day will be split into two halves, the morning listening to the speakers and the afternoon with hands on workshops.

Sessions on the day will include Dave Davies talking silage clamps, Rhun Fychan on big bale silage, getting machinery ready and live demonstrations from Kuhn, discussing when and how you should use additives with Shirley Heron from Volac, and silage bale film with Dow and BPI.

The day will kick off with registrations opening at 10.00am and will finish in time for milking at 3.00pm. Lunch, teas and coffees will be provided.

Registration is essentail and closes 12.30pm on Tuesday 16th April. Prices are £5 for BGS members and £10 for non-members (members must first login for discounted rate). Alternatively, please complete the form here and return to the BGS Office. If you are registering for one than person please complete a form each.
