Demo Farm Soils Events, South West

Thursday, August 13, 2015

Soil health issues such as soil structure, loss of organic matter and soil biology are important in maintaining a healthy, productive soil that works with rather than against your aims as a farmer.  Recent AHDB funded research has been investigating how farmers can take simple steps to understand grassland soil health, identify issues and choose appropriate, cost-effective solutions.

Come along to hear from guest speaker Dr Elizabeth Stockdale (Newcastle University) on:

  • Soil assessment, getting it right
  • Correcting soil structure – why, when and where to use aerators to remove compaction
  • Understanding bugs – how does soil biology affect pasture productivity and what can we do to improve it
