Sustainable Organic and Low Input Dairying - the SOLID project

A recently launched EU project aims to improve the technical performance and economic competitiveness of organic and low input dairy systems in Europe, thus contributing to a more sustainable industry (see A major feature of the project is the involvement of farmers right from the planning stage. In each of nine countries, researchers and farmer representatives will be working together to plan trials which will answer farmers questions and can be carried out on commercial farms.

A discussion meeting is to be held by The Organic Research Centre at Hanley Court, Tidenham, Chepstow on Thursday 3rd May to develop ideas for on-farm research to benefit organic and low input dairy farmers. group discussions will be followed by lunch and a farm walk at Severndale farm by kind invitation of Lyndon Edwards.
