Ian Gillies is awarded the Kirby Memorial Cup

Thursday, May 26, 2011

The Yorkshire Grassland Society Kirby Memorial Cup was presented to Ian Gillies for services to the Yorkshire Grassland Society.  For many years Ian was secretary for the Yorkshire Grassland Society and the South Yorkshire branch and is now president of the South Yorkshire Grassland Society. He is also an active member of the British Grassland Society.

The Kirby Cup is awarded annually alternating between dairy farming, beef and sheep farming, and the personality who has contributed most to the society.  The cup was first presented in 1956 in memory of Harry Kirby, an enthusiastic grassland adviser.
