Local Grassland Societies Celebrating 50 Years

Local Grassland Societies Celebrating 50 Years

Wednesday, August 6, 2014

The BGS is pleased to congratulate nine local Grassland Societies celebrating 50 years this year.

Carmarthenshire, Central Scotland, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Mid-Cardigan, Shropshire, South East Cornwall, West Cornwall and Worcestershire all celebrate their Golden Anniversaries in 2014.

David Lee, president of the BGS said that “whilst we have seen significant change in the UK farming industry over the last 50 years it is encouraging and rewarding to see that local grassland societies and the BGS remain as a consistent thread that continues to bring farmers together for learning and camaraderie”.

The BGS is delighted to see so many local societies thriving through the decades and has commemorated the local societies 50th anniversaries by awarding BGS certificates.
