Pest protection for fodder beet

Pest protection for fodder beet

Friday, March 18, 2011

Seed of fodder beet varieties Blaze, Blizzard and Robbos, is now available treated with Force, rather than Mesurol, giving improved pest resistance, says Limagrain UK's Martin Titley.

"The new Force seed treatment will better protect crops against pest damage. The active ingredient in Force is tefluthrin which provides protection against Mangold fly, millipede, pygmy beetle, spring tails, and symphilids," he says.

"Where leaf lifter harvesters are used, then Robbos and Blaze are good variety choices. If sugar beet machinery is to be used for harvesting then Blizzard, which is a high dry matter variety, is recommended."
