Cornwall to showcase the best of the region’s grassland production at annual Society gathering.

Over 250 visitors from the farming industry are expected to visit Cornwall next July as Cornwall’s local Grassland Societies play host to the British Grassland Society’s prestigious Summer Meeting.

The annual British Grassland Society Summer Meeting brings together farmers, agricultural trades and academics to learn, network and enjoy a series of technical visits and evening events.

“Meating and Milking the Cream of Cornish Grassland”.

The event, which regularly attracts upwards of 250 delegates, will be held in Cornwall from 12th to 15th July 2015. Cornwall Grassland Society (a grouping of the four local societies in Cornwall) have been busy organising an array of diverse and interesting visits to seven livestock farms and the ‘future farm’ research facilities at Duchy College to take place across the three days.

As well as tackling timely technical points in grassland management, profitable farming systems and scientific developments, the occasion also provides the opportunity to let your hair down at the Gala Dinner (on the 14th) and listen to Cornish traditional Male Voice signing on the opening night.

The team organising the event locally are led by well-known businessman, Bill Harper and North Cornwall farmer, David Stone (both of Bude Grassland Society). Bill Harper explains “hosting the meeting is no mean feat and we are working very hard to make it extra special; but what a fantastic way to showcase the best we offer in a region that we know punches above its weight and where farming is still very much a central industry. We are looking forward to welcoming the delegates and learning from one another”.

The event will be open for bookings in Spring 2015. For more information including a preview of the programme and to keep up to date with the latest news click Here
