BGS, RABDF and DairyCo's 'Milking Grass for Profit' spring farm walk, held at Carreg y Llech, Treuddyn near Mold on the 23rd April was the focus of the Welsh farming programme 'Ffermio' last night.

Ed Morgan and family run 220 Holstein cows on the 190 acre grazing platform and 180 acres rented for summer grazing and silage. The farm lies at 850ft above sea level and is wet in the spring with late spring grass growth. Ed made the decision to move to Autumn block calving to maximise grazing later in the season, and results from benchmarking show that this move from all year round calving is paying off.

The Welsh farming programme, aired last night (Monday 4th May), chats to Ed about how he is making profit from grass, and hears from BGS's Rachel Greenow, DairyCo's Richard Davies and some of the visitors to the farm walk.
