Save the date!

BGS Winter Meeting, 19 March 2019, organised in collaboration with the British Society of Soil Science

Improving grassland performance: managing soil structure and organic matter

Venue: Arden Hotel near the NEC in Birmingham.

Topics to be covered include the function and role of soil organic matter, including why it matters for structure; soil structure in the UK; the benefits of grassland in arable systems; grazing management for soil; the role of nutrients and the influence of plants. As with previous Winter Meetings, there will be a practical focus, bringing together science and practitioner to enhance knowledge for all.

As well as talks from invited specialist speakers, we’ll be inviting offers of poster submissions from anyone with work on any of the above themes that they’d like to highlight. It would be great to have posters from all sectors of BGS - science, commercial or farmer – to strengthen our science into practice theme. We’ll give more details in the New Year, but if it’s of interest please contact the BGS office for details. A two-minute slot to describe your poster is a regular feature, usually with some fun involved as presenters come up with novel ways to keep to time!

Booking will open as soon as possible in the New Year.
