Membership of BGS is open to everyone with a keen interest in grassland whether it be farming, research, or just a general interest and the pursuit of the Society objectives. Membership offers many benefits: society journals, the bursary award scheme, conferences, seminars, workshops, member discounts and much more. For full details of BGS membership privileges, click here.
Our preferred payment method is Direct Debit for which the annual membership fee is £50 per person. Discounted membership of £30 is available for those who are retired and for students (under 25 years of age or older but still in full-time education). In order to claim this special rate, ID must be provided. (For other methods of payment the annual membership fee is £60/£30).
Subscription to our scientific society is tax deductible in the United Kingdom.
Our preferred payment method is Direct Debit, with the major advantage for you of not having to worry about renewing your membership each year, we do the work for you. Plus, this reduces our admin costs, allowing BGS to do more for you and the Society. Overseas members are unable to take advantage of Direct Debit, so the reduced rate is available to you as standard. Please complete our Membership Form here and Direct Debit form through the icon below and return to the BGS office by email or by post. Existing members are urged to change to Direct Debit by completing the same form and returning to the BGS Office.
Cheques are to be made payable to British Grassland Society. It is the members responsibility to ensure that the fee being paid is correct to minimise BGS admin costs on invoicing for differences/under payments. New members must complete the membership form above.
If you wish to pay your membership by bank transfer (bacs), please contact the BGS office for bank details. New members must complete the membership form above and existing members are required to notify the BGS office of your payment details, so your payment can be identified and reconciled.
Membership renewal is 1st January each year. Invoices will be issued in January each year for those NOT paying by Standing Order or Direct Debit. Overseas payments are accepted by credit card, Eurocheque or through a London Clearing Bank.
