The directors of Free Range Dairy, Neil Darwent and Carol Lever, are currently touring the Southwest with a series of meetings aimed at attracting farmers to their cause. They propose introducing an identifiable label for milk produced by cows that graze and have developed a set of criteria that farmers wishing to use the ‘Pasture Promise’ brand would have to meet.

Countryside Education Visits Accreditation Scheme - Tuesday, December 9, 2014

CEVAS courses are undergoing some changes. From January 2015 the two day Open College Network-accredited course will be delivered through two optional routes: an Educational Route that covers mainly school visits with educational aims and outcomes, and a Therapeutic Route that covers a wide range of visitors with mainly therapeutic aims and outcomes. Each route consists of three units, the first of which is common to both.

BGS Announcement – New Society Director Appointed - Monday, December 1, 2014

The Trustees of the British Grassland Society are delighted to announce the appointment of Elaine Jewkes as Society Director. Elaine brings to BGS a wealth of experience in research and commerce from her time as a scientist at North Wyke and more recently as Grassland Specialist for GrowHow UK Ltd., as well as a passion for working with farmers and all things grassland. She will take up her post from the beginning of January 2015.


Grass and Forage Crops Handbook from Limagrain - Thursday, November 20, 2014

Limagrain has developed and published a new grass and forage crops handbook for its Sinclair McGill portfolio. Specific sections in weeds, pests and disease that can cause problems in establishment and also in established crops have been included to provide growers with a blueprint for successful grass and forage production.
