NFYFC Grass Farmers for the Future - Wednesday, August 28, 2013

The British Grassland Society and the NFYFC are working together with funding from DEFRA to run training and a competition in grassland management.

The training will cover managing a grassland farm as a whole system to be a profitable and sustainable business. Then, using this training, competitors will be given a brief to solve regarding a farm who is struggling to make a profit under the current management system. 

How to use RGCL- Webinar with EBLEX - Tuesday, July 30, 2013

The British Grassland Society is happy to share the EBLEX webinar on how to use the Recommended Grass and Clover list (RGCL)

The RGCL contains the varieties best suited to farms in England and Wales through testing on sites across the two countries. The aim of the list is to provide farmers with the best information on varieties available on the market and to make them aware of what they are actually buying.

BGS 11th Research Conference - Science and Practice for Grass-Based Systems - Tuesday, July 23, 2013

As the UK Government announces a £160m strategy to boost farming technology - a move that it claims will turn the UK into a world leader in agricultural science.  The British Grassland Society is leading the way in developing and promoting early stage research in the grassland sector by running a Research Conference at SRUC Crichton Campus, Dumfries on the 2nd and 3rd September 2013.

BGS Summer Meeting 2014 “Nowt Ewe Canna Dae Wi’ Girse” - Monday, July 8, 2013

BGS are pleased to announce our 2014 Summer Meeting is being hosted and planned with thanks to the North of Scotland Local Grassland Society from Friday 4th July 2014 to Monday 7th July 2014. We will be staying at the comfortable and well appointed Thistle Aberdeen Airport Hotel situated near Dyce and visiting 8 farms across three days, showing the range of grassland farms in the North East of Scotland. We envisage booking opening in April 2014.

BGS are pleased to announce our 2013 Summer Meeting is being held in Penrith, Cumbria from Sunday 23rd June to Wednesday 26th June. We will be staying in Penrith and visiting 8 farms including the dairy unit being built at Newton Rigg College. The farms are a diverse range of grassland farms near Penrith, showcasing a little bit of everything that the region has to offer. For full details of the whole event visit our Events page.

Nutrient Wise Demo Day - Tuesday, May 28, 2013

BGS in conjunction with RASE has arranged a comprehensive tour of the Farm Platform at Rothamsted Research, North Wyke, Devon.  The tour takes place on the 12th June starting at midday with a buffet lunch and concludes with a cream tea at 4pm.

Demo Farm Open Meeting Cheshire - Thursday, May 16, 2013

On the 10th of July, BGS and DairyCo will be bringing you a visit to one of our demonstration farms, Ray Brown's dairy unit in Cheshire. 

The day comes out of the Research Partnership, Demonstrating Research into Practice which is taking raw research and demonstrating it in on farm situations.
