Grassland survey shows science pays - Tuesday, April 25, 2017

Organised by the Grassland & Muck Event, the survey reveals that more farmers are analysing their soil and manure than ever before, with an increasing proportion also taking professional advice on variety choice. However, there is still a huge opportunity for farmers to make more of their grassland, with only 14% regularly measuring grass growth and 29% still not producing a nutrient or manure management plan.

Refocus for RABDF sees the launch of a new Dairy-Tech Day for February 2018 - Tuesday, April 11, 2017

Major reforms were announced by RABDF following a comprehensive review of the charity’s activities. The organisation will narrow its focus to areas in which it can offer unique benefits; it will cut peripheral or duplicated activities and also step up its influencing work. 

Part of the change of direction will be a brand-new technology and innovation-based event, Dairy-Tech, to be held in February 2018 at Stoneleigh Park.

Forage will be theme of Herdsman's Conference - Tuesday, March 21, 2017

This year's National Herdsman's Conference recognises the importance of forgae, naming the theme as "The Forage Factor!" for the event taking place 10-11 April at Harper Adams University. Organisers, NMR, encourage herdsmen from all systems to benefit from the cows ability to turn forage into milk, highlighting that profitable production comes from maximising yeild from forage.

The conference will include a mix of presentations and practical sessions at the Sansaw Estate Farm, with contributors coming from around the world.
