Sam Carey, Dairy Farmer from Bala, North Wales
'My journey, experiences and challenges'.

Sam is originally from North Pembrokeshire. He attended Harper Adams University, graduating in 2011 with a BSc in Agriculture. Following his studies, Sam worked on farms in Oxford, Arizona, New Zealand and North Wales. In 2014, Sam set up his own company, which provides a herd management and heifer leasing service.  In 2015, he entered into a share farming partnership with the Price family of Rhiwlas Estate near Bala, North Wales. Currently, the business extends to 650 acres carrying 500 cows and 340 head of young stock. In 2019, Sam and his team won Wales Grassland Farm of the Year and he was also nominated for the Sir Bryner Jones Memorial Award. Sam is keen to continue to study, travel and meet key industry influencers home and abroad. He was awarded the Richard John Memorial Travel Bursary, which he used to visit the UK, Holland, Germany and New Zealand. Throughout his journey, Sam has discovered that his business is rooted in growing grass and growing people.

Please join us for what we believe will be a very interesting evening.  Non-members are welcome, light refreshment will be served after the evening’s talk which gives an excellent opportunity to continue the evening’s discussion.
