Dorset GS Meeting

Dorset GS Meeting

Tuesday 3rd March
7.30 pm
At Pearce Seeds, Rosedown Farm, Sherborne DT9 4SX

Rob Drysdale from StraightLine Beef.
The result of one man's vision to grow great tasting beef - with a conscience.

Rob is a Nuffield Scholar and after completing his travels in 2014, StraightLine beef was created, looking at building a sustainable beef supply within a successful integration model. 60 calves arrived July 2014, were processed in February 2016 and since then, the business has grown year on year. Rob now tenant farms 800 acres of grass in Somerset targeting beef from grass and has cattle from Salisbury to Lampeter: rearing calves, growing animals and finishing beef on 12 separate farms. The business has a total head of 4,800, finishing 3,000 head in 2019 and targeting for 3,600 in 2020.

StraightLine Beef aims to grow healthy, ethical, sustainable, quality beef. As producers, they are part of the food industry and feel that producing great beef should be seen as a privilege. StraightLine Beef has an ethical obligation and responsibility to uphold this for the public, their customers, and the people they work with.
