Meet the Team
Tom Goatman – Chief Executive
Tom joined BGS as Chief Executive in July 2019. He grew up on a dairy farm on the Gloucestershire/Monmouthshire border, and has 17 years experience working in the livestock industry. Prior to joining BGS Tom worked for Genus ABS, the AHDB Dairy Knowledge Transfer Team and as a ruminant nutritionist for Trouw Nutrition GB.
His role at BGS is to lead activities of the Society in accordance with the constitution and with guidance from the Trustees and Council, led by the Presidential Team, to ensure the overall progression and development of the Society.

Helen Cockbill – Office and Events Administrator
Helen joined BGS in July 2021 and has many years office experience within larger business streams and smaller, family run businesses.
Helen’s role includes maintenance of the members database, assisting with events and keeping on top of the general office administration.

Sandra Pattinson – Knowledge Exchange Coordinator
Sandra joined BGS at the start of 2019 after spending over 20 years lecturing at Harper Adams University.
Her responsibilities include producing the monthly e-newsletter, organising the Grassland Farmer of the Year competition, managing website content and social media output.
