SMt Travelling Fellowships 2023

Stapledon Memorial Trust Travelling Fellowships – Deadline 31 October 2022

2023 Stapledon Travelling Fellowships Awards NOW OPEN  for applications. Used for visits to or from the UK/Ireland and other countries to develop studies on any aspect of grasslands.

Travelling Fellowship awards cover periods of 1 – 6 months and are normally sufficient to meet economy travel and basic living costs.

Priority is given to supporting younger and mid-career scientists who present applications with clear proposals. Work to be undertaken should be challenging but feasible within the time available and the experience and skills gained from the Fellowship should aim to enhance the applicant’s career development.

UK/Ireland based applicants can apply to visit any other country. Non-UK applicants can only apply for a Fellowship to visit the UK or Ireland. The deadline is 31 October 2022*.

Potential applicants should discuss their proposals with their intended host before applying so the application presents a clear plan of the intended project. Applicants will be asked to outline mitigation for their carbon generation.  All applications for UK/Irish visits should be submitted through the institution involved.

Awards are not available to support PhD studies, or for just conference attendance (although the timing of a Fellowship visit may be arranged to take advantage of conferences). The host organization is required to meet or waive any ‘bench’ fees.

Application is simple and if you need help or advice in your application please contact: Mike Steele at mike.steelesmt@yahoo.com

Please apply online for at https://stapledontrust.com/awards/travelling-fellowship/ using the appropriate form on the website.

*The Trust will, exceptionally, also consider applications at other times.
